Tomorrow

A new day awaits

Time to cool and time to heal

Hold on until morn

Mayday

Lash out in fury

Pain too great to hold in place

Tears barely in check

Giving

Give a little bit
But be sure to hold enough
To provide for yours

Remember to breath

A long time ago when I held the title Yeoman I had opportunity to show several classes of young officers the value of breathing. Most of the time, they paid heed to my instruction.
Over the past two weeks, I have had to remind myself numerous times to breath.
Funny how stupid it seems to have to tell yourself that.

When you start to see spots, when your vision starts going wonky, let go of that breath and take a new one. At this point, the tax man has not found a way to tax them so go ahead and take a new one, take two.

Your body will really appreciate it, especially when you remain upright instead of face planting on the side walk.

Breath
Hold it a few seconds
Release
Repeat

It is the way it should be

Cheers

Give a Little Bit

"See the man with the lonely eyes
Take his hand, you'll be surprised"

A wonderful song by Supertramp, one that gives me pause to reflect on the years that have past

In the world of today, it seems that the overriding thought is "More is better" You turn on your TV and are constantly bombarded by adds saying you aren't thin enough, wealthy enough, smart enough, virile enough or even worthy of notice. We get to see the Snookies of the world, the Paris Hilton and enough people look at them as if they are what we need to aspire to become.
When was the last time you went shopping for groceries and thought "Hey, someone took the time to grow this for me. That is a person who should be stroked for their contribution to the world"
The builders who are out there, the healers, the person who ensures that the little old lady gets across the street safely (yes, Boy Scouts are still out there), these are the people we need to look up to. The people who give a little of their selves to help another person. When I say a little, really that is all it takes. Hold a door open for a mother with both here hands full of energetic children. That 30 seconds of yourself you give can make the world of difference for that mother, and what did it cost you?

BIGGER, FASTER, BETTER....YOU MUST BE THIS, OR HAVE THIS OR YOU ARE NOT WORTHY.

You don't need to be the biggest, or the fastest, or the shiniest. You do not need to measure up to what is being thrown at you. What you do need is yourself. And when you give a little of yourself, you get back far more than you give.
Try it
Give a little bit
And be surprised

Incoming Fire

First and most important rule of combat
Incoming Fires Always has Right Of Way.

There is no appeal
There is no "but I was in the right"
There is no shield

When you are faced with the conflict of what to do when faced with incoming fire, you have
a very simple choice to make. Stand there and let it hit you or take one step to the left and let
it pass beside you.
There is no failure to moving aside and not letting it hit.
A sucking chest wound is not a pleasant sight and,
for those who have experienced such, either physically or emotionally,
it hurts like hell.

While there is always another day when you can go back to fix whatever
the problem was, fixing a problem is always more difficult when you have a
fist sized whole in the middle of your chest.

Take care of yourself

Flight or Fight

Terror can cause the most rational amongst us the do the irrational. Not knowing what lies
ahead can make the journey unbearable.

For those whose partner/lover/spouse who is faced with a terror, remember to give all the
love and support you have. It isn't about you, or what you have done, or what you haven't done.
It is hard to see the face of terror in your significant other and even harder when that face
rips into you.

Be there for when the terror recedes and rationality returns. It will be a gift that you will both
give and receive like no other

Be well

The Oil Sands

So, here we are. One province to the east of me is one of the worlds last untapped supply of oil. From some reports, there is as much oil trapped in those sands as there is lying under the sands of Saudi Arabia.

We have as much wealth trapped in those sands as we could possibly want - what to do with it? Do we leave it in the ground because it is so hard and dirty to extract or do we suck it out and power your car?

It really appears that there are many environmentalists out there who will jump up and down screaming
that it is too dirty to use. How many of those people drive cars? Or use plastic products? Or use any food
product that needs to be shipped in from Hawaii, or California, or Mexico....?

As a whole, the human race has evolved to the point where we all demand more and more, bigger and better,
faster and shinier. How do we make it happen? The energy and resources to produce these new items has to come from somewhere or are you willing to forgo that new cell phone?

Before you stand up and say ""THE OIL SANDS ARE AN UGLY MESS AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN"", ask yourself what are you willing to forgo?

Something to think on

The Hunt Continues

At one time in my life, I dreamed to collect my unemployment insurance.
I needed it.
I wanted it so bad I could taste it.

I have had my fill, I am ready to be employed again.
